My dad wants to by the top of the line hdtv. He doesn’t care about the price at all. I just want to help him pick the right one. He wants no other tv to beat his. I was looking at a Sony 60″ dlp. I really like Sony, and I believe it will be the right brand, since Sony is usually far beyond any other company. I need the right tv though.

I’ve been looking at a 32″ Sony hdtv and i think it read 6000:1 contrast ratio. I saw another hdtv with around 8000:1 contrast ratio. What does this mean. And what ratio is better for a 32″ 720p or 1080i hdtv?

I just bout a new Sony Home Theater system, with 5 HDMI ports. And have a PS3, HDTV and regular DirecTV HD reciever. Can they all be hooked up via HDMI through the Surround sound system? And would Monster cables be the best for quality?

Hello,
I just got a new Sony tv (Sony Bravia S-Series KDL-40S4100 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV) and it has an input for an analog RGB component using a HD15 to HD15 cable. What do I buy to connect my MacBook pro to this TV? The TV instructions say that I should not connect my computer to the tv via a HDMI component.

I have a Sony Bravia which has resolutions of 720p and 1080i. What is the best way to connect to my pc? Should I use HDTV r Super VGA? If I choose 1280 x 800 it looks pin sharp but does not fill the screen ,and it is not as clear on the resolutions that do. I have checked my graphics card etc, and can only stretch the screen on certain resolutions. I want to be able to read text easily.

So I picked this HDTV from a friend and its one of those really heavy 47″ Sony Trinitron tvs and I have this discoloring on the upper left and right side of the tv and a discoloring on the bottom left. Its a greenish color and its distorting the color/video on the tv. Any ideas what it is and/or how to get rid of it?

I have a Comcast HDTV box, feeding into my Sony Bravia home theatre system via coaxial cable, then to my HDTV via component cable. However I do not get a picture this way. I know I can connect the cable box and the home theatre system via separate component inputs, but is there a way to use both without switching inputs? Thank you!
